EFFECT OF NANOUREA ON GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT OF SPRING RICE (ORYZA SATIVA L. VAR. HARDINATH HYBRID-1) IN RAUTAHAT, NEPAL

A field experiment was conducted to evaluate the effects of nanourea on the growth and yield of spring rice (Oryza sativa L. var. Hardinath Hybrid-1) in Rautahat, Nepal, during the spring season of 2023. Five treatments were applied: T1: 100% nitrogen (N) via urea (recommended dose of fertilizers, RDF), T2: 6ml of nanourea (40000ppm) per liter as foliar spray at tillering and panicle initiation stages, T3: 4ml of nanourea (40000ppm) per liter as foliar spray at tillering and panicle initiation stages, T4: 2ml of nanourea (40000ppm) per liter as foliar spray at tillering and panicle initiation stages, and T5: 120% N via urea (RDF). Single super phosphate (SSP) and muriate of potash (MOP) were used according to recommended doses. The experiment was designed as a one-factorial randomized complete block design (RCBD) with 20 plots, each measuring 3m * 2m. Growth parameters, grain yield and yield attributing characters were recorded. The results revealed that nanourea treatments significantly enhanced growth parameters, grain yield and yield attributes. The highest plant height (114.0 cm) and tillers per hill (24) were achieved with T4 (2ml of nanourea), followed by T3 (4ml of nanourea). T4 also recorded the highest effective tillers (19), flag leaf length (25.25 cm), thousand-grain weight (24.15 gm), grain yield (6.38 ton/ha), and straw yield (10.50 ton/ha). Thus, 2ml of nanourea, followed by 4ml nanourea, is recommended for optimal growth and yield of spring rice in Garuda, Rautahat, Nepal.
